Here we will show how to calculate VAG MQB48 NEC35XX immo data with Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool and MQB48 adapter.

 

Model example: Audi Q2.

Tools used:

VVDI MLB Tool

MQB48 adapter

Original key

A new key to be programmed

 

 

Before using MQB48 adapter, we should modify MLB tool firmware as following:

How to Update VVDI MLB Tool Firmware to Use MQB48 Adapter?

Then we start to read immo data with MLB tool.

Run VVDI MLB Tool software. Choose MQB48 function and check wiring diagram.

Select corresponding wiring diagram. Here the key board is the same as type 5.

Need to solder 2 wires, black wire and red wire.
Remove a capacitor, the solder the red wire (near the IC position).

Open the original key shell.

Remove a capacitor as shown in the wiring. Then solder two wires.

 

 

Connect Xhorse XDMQBAGL MQB48 Adapter with MLB Tool.

Connect Key board with MQB48 adapter. Place the key to coil of MQB48 adapter in the vertical direction.

The MQB48 adapter has strict power supply requirements during data collection. Use two separate USB cables to power the MLB main unit and the MQB48 collector. Do not use charging adapters.
The MLB main unit does not require 12V power.

Then connect MLB Tool with PC via USB cable.

Read key information. Read Key ID successfully.

Press Collect Key data.

Collecting key data and calculating immo data.

Calculation finished. Restore key back to original status. Save MQB NEC35XX immo data.

Data Collection Time:
Good power supply: ~15 minutes for data collection, ~1 minute for immobilizer data calculation.
Average power supply: ~30–60 minutes for data collection, ~1 minute for calculation.

 

 

 

 

Resolder the capacitor back to the key. Reinstall key shell. This is very important !!!

 

NOTE:

Removing the wrong capacitor can cause the MQB chip to become unrecognizable, making it impossible to collect data.
After reading the data, the capacitor must be restored; otherwise, the key cannot be programmed to car.

 

If need to connect MLB tool with key tool plus to calculate MQB48 immo date, make connection like this:

Note: Tablets with a single Type-C port have poor power stability, leading to longer collection times and lower success rates. Strongly recommend using a PC.

Connect VVDI2 or VVDI Key Tool Plus with vehicle via OBD connector.
Go to MQB anti-system system (NEC35XX Continental/VDO), read cluster info.
Load immo data saved by MLB Tool.
Then generate dealer key and learn key.

Question:

Is it possible to reuse an Audi MLB key fob. Xhorse vvdi key tool plus has these options. Can we read key with VVDI MLB Tool and reset the key fob to a new state? What option… Recover the key / Upgrade OEM keys? Any idea?

 

Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool updated MQB48 NEC35XX immo data collection function recently. Follow the steps below to update your VVDI MLB Tool firmware to use MQB48 adapter.

 

The MQB48 adapter comes with solder wires and an enhanced version replacement chip.

Remove 4 screws on the back of the MLB tool and open the shell.

Remove 2 screws on the main board and check out the other side.

This is the front of the main board.

Replace this chip using the enhanced replacement chip in the package.

After replacing the chip, reinstall the VVDI MLB Tool.

Then you can use the MQB48 adapter to collect immo data.

NOTE: Both the device and the adapter need to be connected to a power supply !!!

By using with Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool, we can get the synchro, CS & Pin from the original key for backup. After successful MLB data collection and calculation, this data is available after the dealer key was generated. Detailed steps are as follows:

 

Step1. Identifiaction Key

Please place the key in the device identification area for identification.

 

Step2. Collect Key Data

Open the original car key, connect the original car key PCB as shown in the diagram, and click the collect key data button after connection. It will take about 3-4 minutes. The server takes approximately 10s to calculate. After the calculation is completed, please save the calculation results.

 

Step3. Make Dealer Key

Load the calculation data saved in the step2 and generate dealer keys. Then use VVDI2 or KEY TOOL PLUS for key learning.

Run VVDI2 software and select correspoding vehicle software, i.e Audi
Select Key Learn->MLB Immobilizer System.

 

 

 

Upload data read by MLB tool. Then you will get CS and PIN.

Today I finally have the chance to program a new key for Porsche Cayenne 9YA E3 with Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool + VVDI2. I have the original key and a 4-button key available. Fortunately, the key was workable.

 

Here’s how I do it:

1. Connect original key to VVDI MLB Tool.

 

 

2. Collect immo data from original key to generate dealer key.

 

3. Place keys in the slot betwwen the cup holders to program them to the vehicle.

 

4. Set desired key count. In this case it is 2.

2020 Audi Q8 Add Key with Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool and VVDI2 successfully!

Calculate and generate key data with MLB Tool, then learn key with vvdi2.

You have to remove capacitors.

On xhorse need only desolder 2 x capcitors. Nothing big work. On KYDZ you also need desolder capacitors.

Both tools require capacitors to be removed, the “solder less” adapters are only for the three wires you connect at the end which is the easiest part of the process.

The key cover shell is sealed, better to change shell.

How-to: read Porsche MLB Key Immo Data by Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool Key programmer.

 

Place the key in the device identification area and click OK for identification.

 

 

Read key ID and info. The key is locked.

Remove key shell and take out PCB.

Check wiring diagram. Need to remove capacitors.

Then solder wires to the key board.

Place the key in the VVDI MLB Tool identification area and click OK for identification again.

Select Collect key data.

Choose Collect original keys- points deduction. The calculation will deduct 200 points.

Online calculate immo data completed.

Save data.

Now you can make dealer key and learn MLB key.

Problem:

One of our customers tried to add a spare key to Audi Q7 2020 with the Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool. However the tool failed to collect key data.

Error “Key data calculation failed”.

 

 

Common Issues with Collection Failures

• VCC1 and VCC2 are reversed.
• The capacitors were removed incorrectly or not removed.
• Short circuit in soldering.
• Data collection requires wireless reading of the key simultaneously; if the key is not positioned correctly, it will not be detected.

Check the above and collect key data again.

We have shown how to add an MLB key with VVDI MLB Tool and VVDI Key Tool Plus (check instructions). Here we will show how to use the MLB-Tool with VVDI2 to add key Audi MLB.

 

Procedure:

Follow the diagram to solder wires to vvdi mlb tool.

Download and install MLB tool software.

Connect MLB Tool with computer.
Put the key on the identification area.

Run VVDI MLB Tool software.

Identify key
Key is locked and initialized.

Select Collect Key Data
Select the method for collect key data as needed.

No OEM key here means using the original key.
Use the OEM key here means using VVDI dedicated MLB key. Use VVDI MLB does not deduct points.

Data calculation completed.

Press OK for verification.
Data verification is successful.

The data can be used to make dealer key.
Select Make dealer key.

Then we learn key with VVDI2 programmer.
Turn on the ignition switch
Connect VVDI2 with vehicle and PC
Place the original key in the induction area.

Run VVDI2 software and select correspoding vehicle software, i.e Audi
Select Key Learn->MLB Immobilizer System

Read vehicle information and press Key Learning
Both keys need to be learned.

Upload IMMO data read by Xhorse VVDI MLB Tool

Start key learning.
Learn 1st key success.

Place new key in the induction area
Learn 2nd key successfully.

All keys are successfully learned now.

Test the key function.
Smart function working as expected
One touch start ok, remote control, and keyless all working
